Genesis 2:19 "Now out of the ground the LORD God formed every..." conflicts with Genesis 1.
Was the animals made before man as Gen 1 puts it, or after man as Gen 2:19 puts it?
>> Perhaps there is a contradiction.
The ESV version has "had formed" but the KJV doesn't have "had formed" but instead "formed."
And searching the Hebrew word "formed" through out the OT doesn't reveal a solution to our problem.
< STRONG Perhaps both are true, with a different scenario being described.
If you notice, in Gen 2:8-9, it also describes God "planting" and springing up all trees in the garden of Eden AFTER making man. It would seem that that is contradicting, but it isn't. Therefore, it's possible that God made animals both before and after making man.
Genesis 2:19 records another creation event, where God creates birds, beasts, creeping things, etc, and brought them before Adam so that he could name them. Note however that this event is taking place in the Garden of Eden, unlike the events recorded in Genesis 1 which were outside the Garden.

< Perhaps not, the word formed can have other meanings.
If it can be proven that the word "formed" could also refer to the past, like in the sense of saying "I made animals, and now I bring them to Adam," then it can be more resolved.
< The word formed is pluperfect tense (happened before).
Verse 19 is clearer with the pluperfect tense: "The LORD God had formed . . . every beast," i.e., before He made man.
