Which laws/commandments of Jesus does God want us to follow?

E-mail Print

< He wants us to follow two important summarizing moral laws.

1)  Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

2) Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Mat 22:36  "Teacher," he asked, "which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
Mat 22:37  Jesus answered, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
Mat 22:38  This is the greatest and the most important commandment.
Mat 22:39  The second most important commandment is like it: 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'
Mat 22:40  The whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments."

>> What about the 10 Commandments, especially the sabbath, circumcision, tithing, etc.

You can't ignore those. The sabbath is an OT law, and yet Christians still go to church.

< STRONG These can be explained.

I can't answer about the sabbath.

Circumcision is ceremonial.

Apparently, tithing is considered crucially important, and is still followed by Jesus' most important commandment.

So if you Love the Lord your God with everything, then you'll give a lot to God.

>> But what about Paul's commandments regarding church structure and such?

For example, he forbid women to talk in church.
