It says: And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people. (Acts 3:23)
>> WEAK Yes. According to this, whoever doesn't listen to Jesus should be destroyed.
That's intolerant.
< Well, that statement doesn't make Christians intolerant.
Someone else other than a Christian does the destroying, since it doesn't say Christians are the ones to perform the task.
< It doesn't make Christians the "evil" intolerant.
If Jesus is good, and someone doesn't listen to Jesus, then that person REALLY must be evil. For ex: if Jesus said to not murder... who is the person who refuses to listen to Jesus? A murderer.
Second, this statement is NOT an evil intolerable statement, but rather a good intolerable statement. The quality of Intolerance is NOT wrong in itself... it's neutral. For example: intolerance to good is wrong, and intolerance to bad is right. In other words, it's wrong to tolerate evil, but it is right to tolerate goodness.
Again, it says that Jesus is being intolerant TO EVIL ACTS... if what He speaks from his mouth is good, and people REFUSE TO LISTEN TO HIM, HOW BAD THEY ARE!!!
There are 2 types of good-tolerances:
1) The toleration of people who persecute you, or commit wrongful acts against you. In other words, you don't get back at them for persecuting you. Also tolerating other religions, so as to NOT kill them, or mistreat them, or refuse justice to them.
2) The toleration of different Christian ideals, simply because certain scriptures may be unclear. Just because two Christians disagree, doesn't mean one is necessarily wrong. AS LONG AS THEY both want to do what pleases God, and they naturally disagree, then that's permissible.
