< STRONG Author's intent, by examining his words, suggests we believe in it.

Click here to see Is Genesis and other parts of the Bible meant to be taken as a metaphor?  for the argument regarding intent.

< STRONG Citations and references from other Bible writers. (Biblical)

Many writers of the Bible recited the story: Isaiah 54.9, Ezekiel 14.14, Jesus (Mat 24.38), Paul (Hebrews 11.7) and Peter (1Pe 3.20, 2Peter 2.5). That makes this story extra significant.

Jesus refers to it because he compared the ending time to that of Noah's time.

Isaiah and Ezekiel refers to it to describe how Noah's faithfulness would save him from God's punishment he is about to give.

< STRONG Significance of its Natur

The book The Case for Christ says that events wouldn't have been written down if they weren't significant. This is something to consider.

< STRONG Immense Details given

Normally, fairy tale stories don’t give details on their stories. But Noah’s Ark gives so much detail.

Details of Flood Period

  • To stop flooding: Took 40 days (of rain falling) + 5 months (150 days)  in total (Gen 7.24)
  • Took 150 days for all water to go down.
  • Took 8 months for the whole operation
Dimensions of the Boat
Genesis gives dimensions of the boat: 450ft X 75ft X 45ft. It's also 3 stories tall. Doing a little calculation, the boat can fit roughly fourteen hundred (1400) 12ft X 6ft cars. That’s HUGE.

More Details of Water
Genesis says that water gushed out from the earth and that the water covered the highest mountain by 25 ft.

Detail of Geography
The boat rested on the Ararat mountains.

All these details are typical of reports, and accounts, not fairy tales.
