What is heaven like?

< Like Paradise

It would be like the tasting of something delicious perpetually, as we would experience the sensation on earth.

< STRONG Like Paradise with New Bodies (Biblical)

Luk 23:43  And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

We will be like Angels and Sons of God
Luk 20:36  … because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

There won’t be Death
Luk 20:36  for they cannot die anymore, …

There won’t be Marriage
Luk 20:35  but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage,

< STRONG Like it originally was with Adam and Eve... the kingdom of Heaven (Biblical)

Myles Munroe1 talks about the Kingdom of Heaven in detail.

There are 2 different things: Heavens, and Kingdom of Heaven.

The Heavens divide into 3 main parts: sky, space, and actual Heaven. There might be other levels in between, but that’s what it says throughout the Bible. Notice how the Bible stated “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

The Highest Heaven was God’s dwelling place.
The Kingdom of Heaven was God’s kingdom extended to Earth, which man was supposed to be in charge of. So God dwells in the highest Heavens, while the kingdom of heavenextended to earth. These are the two divisions.

Rome’s Kingdom
The two divisions compared to like what Rome did. When the Romans conquered a city, they would set up a kingdom of Rome there, but not necessarily Rome itself. The conquered cities would still have their own customs and languages. However, all laws that Rome created are forced to be followed by the conquered cities. If you step into one of these cities, there would be some reflection of Rome.

God’s Kingdom- it’s relationship to Rome’s Kingdom
In the same way, God established the kingdom of heaven on earth, not necessarily heaven itself. Whenever the laws are followed, the kingdom is established. So humans are/were representatives of God's heaven.
They were like the diplomats of US on foreign soil. The diplomats would follow their country's laws and rules but did not need to follow the foreign soil’s laws. Through this system, God ruled on Earth from heaven through his diplomats.

But after the fall, more and more people became disobedient. You know what happens if Rome has disobedient subjects.

To put it in Perspective from Genesis to Jesus
So God created the heavens and the earth. God gave Adam and Eve power and authority over the earth (he told them to take care of it, do some work around the place, and that they ruled everything on it).

It was also Paradise for Adam and Eve. Everything was great. They lived without death and Adam and Eve spoke directly to God. There was still work, though, and lots of trees and dirt (not like floating clouds).

Then Adam and Eve disobeyed and were cast out under several curses including death.

So, when we "go to heaven," our relationship with God gets restored and the curses reversed by Jesus’ sacrifice, since Jesus died for the sins.

Now Relate it to What Jesus Said
Jesus would preach the good news that the kingdom of heaven was near (most of the time):

Mat 4:17  "From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Mat 9:35  "And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction."

Kingdom of heaven is at hand? That sounds like heaven's rule on earth.

Description of the Kingdom of Heaven
Mat 13:24  He put another parable before them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field,
Mat 13:25  but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.
Mat 13:26  So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.
Mat 13:27  And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, 'Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?'
Mat 13:28  He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' So the servants said to him, 'Then do you want us to go and gather them?'
Mat 13:29  But he said, 'No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.
Mat 13:30  Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'"
This parable is commonly taken to represent today's situations.

Meaning of the Parable:

Mat 13:37  He answered, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.
Mat 13:38  The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one,
Mat 13:39  and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the close of the age, and the reapers are angels.
Mat 13:40  Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the close of the age.
Mat 13:41  The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers,
Mat 13:42  and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 13:43  Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

Connection
We all know Jesus died to forgive sins. But can you see the connection to Adam and Eve? The death was to allow people to once again enter the kingdom of heaven by forgiving the inherited sins of Adam and Eve.

The concept of the Kingdom of heaven makes so many things fit together.
1) Adam and Eve's purpose of caring for the earth and getting rulership over the earth
2) reason for humans having the hunger for power and wanting authority
3) reason why animals are afraid of us and don't normally like to attack us (but simply act out of self defense or extreme hunger).
4) Jesus preaching and teaching about the kingdom of heaven.
5) Jesus' prayer saying "Hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come..."
6) Jesus dying to enable us to re-enter the kingdom and have "eternal life" as he keeps talking about (but not in this life of course)
7) The Revelation's foresight of a new heaven and a new earth (where the people who "go to heaven" would be)

>> Children's Inheritance of Sin?
Wait, should children be punished for what their parents did?

< Sort of.

It’s prevalent that what the parents do will have influence in reality on their children’s future, no matter what.

If the parent commits crime, the children suffer for parents being in jail. If parents do drugs, children suffer. If they divorce, children suffer.
